Summary: Is IQ Data trying to get in touch with you? Do you want to tell them to stop or settle your debt? Here are the phone numbers for IQ Data.

I.Q. Data International, Inc., also known as Assurant Recovery Solutions, is a debt collection agency that is located out of Washington state. If you have seen them listed on your credit report then you will know that they have reported this delinquent account to the credit bureaus. This is common if you forget to pay a bill.

You may have seen IQ Data International may appear on your credit report as one of many names: IQ Data Collection, IQ Data Int, IQ International, or IQ Data. If this is the case, you should be sure to have their phone number in order to contact them and possibly negotiate a settlement. The main contact phone number for IQ Data is (888) 248-2509.

Respond to a debt collection lawsuit in 15 minutes with SoloSuit.

How to remove IQ Data International from your credit report

IQ Data International collections will hurt your credit score. They can even stay on your credit report for seven years even if you pay it off. In some cases, you may even hurt your credit score while paying for your debt. Despite this, you can sometimes have a collection removed from your account earlier than seven years.

Contacting a collection agency is not always the best choice, and making payments starts the statute of limitations over again. This can lead to your credit score getting even worse than it was before. It is best to use a credit repair service to communicate with IQ Data. If this is not possible, then you can try to settle.

What to do if you are sued by IQ Data

It is possible that IQ Data will sue you. If this occurs then you may need to go to court, and if you do not respond, you will have an automatic judgment placed against you. Automatic judgments lead to wage garnishment or asset seizure.

Not all states allow it, but some states do allow wage garnishment. If you live in a state that does not allow wage garnishment, then it is illegal for them to threaten to garnish your wages. It is also illegal for IQ Data to make false claims. This might include threatening foreclosure on your home if they do not have this right.

  • Avoid speaking on the phone. Rather than speak to IQ Data on the phone you should attempt to have everything in writing. You can even ask them to stop contacting you and they must listen.
  • Record all phone calls. If you do speak with them on the phone then you should record all of your calls. Despite this being legal in 35 states, there are 15 states in which you must give them notice that you plan to record them. Although debt collectors are not supposed to, they often lie. IQ Data is known to threaten consumers and lie to push you to pay the debt.
  • Do not lie about your assets. Because it is considered fraud to lie about your assets, do not do it. That is not to say you should give them access to your bank accounts, but do not lie.
  • Do not apply for a new credit card. If you are struggling to pay one credit card or creditor then do not open another line of credit. This would be looked upon as fraudulent.
  • Do not ignore the debt collectors. Debt collectors can be incredibly annoying, but ignoring them will only make matters worse. You must respond to any debt collection calls. If you do not, then a lawsuit may be placed against you and you will automatically lose if you do not respond to that.
  • Learn the statute of limitations in your state. The statute of limitations on debt governs how long you can legally be sued for a debt. At a certain point, the debt becomes too old and is considered “time-barred”. Also known as zombie debt, you will no longer be able to be sued for the debt. This time period is usually around four to six years. It is good to note that you technically still pay it, you just can no longer be sued for it.

Don't ignore a debt collection lawsuit. Respond with SoloSuit.

Known complaints against IQ Data

Most collection agencies have had many complaints against them, and IQ Data is no different. These complaints are filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) as well as the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Most of these complaints are regarding inaccurate reporting, harassment, or failure to verify a debt. Should you be in one of these situations you can file a complaint yourself.

You need to know that you have rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) as well as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). These regulations govern what a debt collector can and cannot do to consumers. The FDCPA prevents debt collectors from using abusive or deceptive tactics when trying to collect a debt. It does not matter whether or not the debt is yours, you are still awarded these rights.

For example, it would be a violation of the FDCPA for a debt collector to report inaccurate or incomplete information on your credit report. It is also your legal right for a debt collector to verify your debt. This involves proof within 30 days of the first notice, that the debt belongs to you and you owe it based on fact.

Debt collectors may not harass you or threaten you, they may also not call you too many times in a row, swear at you, or call you at odd hours of the day. If they do not announce who they are or they tell a third party this information they may violate the FDCPA as well. Should any of these violations occur, you must report them to the FDCPA. You might have a countersuit and be able to sue them for damages.
