How to negotiate a settlement with Eastern Revenue Inc.
Lots of people panic when they first get a notice from a debt collector. That panic often pushes them to pay up immediately.
However, if this is the first notice you’ve gotten, you still have some time. You also might not have to pay the full amount you owe (although it will take some negotiation skills). Here’s what to do.
1. Ask for validation of the debt
Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), if you ask a debt collector to send documentation proving you owe a debt, they must send it to you. If they don’t, you don’t have to pay the debt. There’s a catch, though: you must send the Debt Validation Letter (your written request for debt validation) within 30 days of the debt collector’s first contact with you.

2. Make a plan and start negotiating
If Eastern Revenue Inc. responds with proof that you owe the debt, it’s time to make a plan. You have a few options to choose from:
Pay in Full: If you choose this option, try asking for a pay-for-delete (when Eastern Revenue Inc. deletes the derogatory mark from your credit in return for payment).
Set Up a Payment Plan: If you can’t pay all at once, talk to the collector to set up a monthly installment agreement.
Settle for a Lower Lump Sum: If you have the funds to do so, offer to settle for a lower amount paid all at once.

Now, let’s look at an example of how to settle debt with Eastern Revenue.
Example: Beth gets a letter from Eastern Revenue Inc. saying she owes $3,000 from an old tuition bill. She uses SoloSuit to send a Debt Validation Letter, and the collector proves she owes the debt. Beth wants to see if she can get rid of the debt without paying the full $3,000, so she offers to settle for $2,200. Eastern Revenue asks for $2,700, and they settle on $2,500. Beth makes the payment, and then she’s done with the debt for good.
What if you’ve been sued by Eastern Revenue?.
It’s ideal to negotiate a settlement before a collector has a chance to sue you. However, if you’ve recently received a Summons for a lawsuit, you might still have time to negotiate.
In the past, Eastern Revenue partnered with Burton Neil & Associates, PC to sue debtors for past-due accounts. However, Burton Neil & Associates, PC is no longer in business and has transferred its clientele over to AG Commercial Law, LLC.
So, if you’ve been contacted by Eastern Revenue about a debt and fail to respond, don’t be surprised if you receive a notice that you’re being sued from AG Commercial Law, LLC.
Once you receive this notice, which usually comes in the form of a court Summons and Complaint, you have a set amount of time (usually 14 to 30 days) to respond. The amount of time you have depends on your state. If you still have time to respond, take the following steps:
1. Send an Answer
An Answer is basically a response to a lawsuit that says you’re going to fight it. It’s crucial to send it in by your state’s deadline to respond to a debt Summons. If you don’t, Eastern Revenue Inc. wins by default.
Once a collector has won a lawsuit against you, there’s no more room for negotiating. When you lose the lawsuit, the court issues a judgment against you, and that judgment means that your wages can be garnished or the money can be taken out of your bank account.
No one wants that, so it’s crucial to make sure your Answer gets to the right place. That’s where SoloSuit comes in. We make it easy to fill out your Answer, and once you’re done, we’ll send it to the right place.
2. Begin negotiating, then finalize and make your payment
Once you send an Answer, you can begin negotiating. Here’s a tip: lawsuits are incredibly expensive and drawn out, and debt collectors want to avoid them as much as you do. Settling out of court is best for both of you, so most debt collectors will be happy to negotiate.
You can negotiate on your own if you want, but SoloSuit makes it even simpler. When you use SoloSettle, we’ll communicate with the debt collector for you. Once you and the collector agree on a certain amount, we’ll help you arrange a payment, too.
